This is my 2008 Valentine’s Day song - so creatively entitled “A Valentine”.
Yeah, I know…
But I was listening it today to try and find inspiration for my 2012 Valentine’s Day song. This is honestly one of my favorite holidays despite its commercialism, but I’m having trouble finding inspiration for this year’s song. I DO know it won’t be this elaborate pop number - more like me and a guitar….
Lyrics below - available at my Reverb Store for anyone interested.
A Valentine (cc.tran)
A valentine can be a
paper cut out
made by a school kid
A valentine can be
that diamond ring
in that anniversary gift
But whether it’s that
locket chain your mother bought you once
Or that box of chocolates heart-shaped, red, and sweet
A Valentine can be a sign
Of the many ways love can existChorus
So this song is my love to you
And this song is my gift to you
I hope it lets you take a moment to unwind
Taking you away from any chaotic time
Because I wanna say
I hope you know x 2
I care about you
Every day I care about youRemember Charlie Brown’s red-headed girl
That kind of crush
where you can’t even, even speak
Remember that first rush of love
held in that first kiss
that made your knees oh–oh-oh so weak
That hand-tingling kinda touch
As someone slips their fingers into yours
And then they give you that look, you know that look -
A valentine can be a moment , just one moment
Of the many times love has come to pass
A valentine can be a moment that will always lastChorus
A valentine can be a poem
A valentine can be a song
The hope of sugar sweet
even held in Valentine Days gone wrong
It’s a hope we should always keep
As we live our lives along
A valentine is a note to remember
That more moments can always come alongChorus x 2
